Nothing feels better than to know you have a healthy, beautiful smile. Since a smile tends to be the first thing people see, it’s important to give the right impression. While it’s true that looks aren’t everything, it can be hard to remain confident during a business meeting or job interview if you’re dealing with tooth loss. Sure, you may have amazing qualifications and the best attitude for the job, but if you’re not feeling good about yourself or your smile, you may find it challenging to be on top of your game both personally and professionally. If you’re ready to do something about your tooth loss, it might be time to consider getting dental implants. Dental Implants
Are you looking for a long-term solution to tooth loss? Do you want smiling in public to feel second nature? Do you want to enjoy your favorite foods and feel comfortable talking to colleagues? If you said yes to any of these questions, then dental implants might help you gain the smile you’re looking for. So are dental implants the right choice for you? Let’s find out!

What are dental implants?

Dental implants consist of two components—a small metal screw and an artificial tooth. Dental implants are a long-term solution to fixing tooth loss caused by dental trauma or severe decay.

Tell me more about the process....

If you’re a good candidate for dental implants, the procedure will take at least two visits. The first visit entails surgically implanting the metal screw into the jawbone. We then give your mouth a few months to heal. During that time, the surrounding tissue and bones should begin to bond and grow around the metal screw, permanently embedding the screw into your jawbone.
Once everything has healed properly, the second visit will consist of fitting your dental crown. This artificial tooth, which is typically made from porcelain or ceramic, is designed to look just like a natural tooth. This dental “cap” will be placed on top of the implant, to complete your smile.

Are dental implants right for me?

Dental implants can be a wonderful restorative solution; however, not everyone is a good candidate. If you have been diagnosed with gum disease, it’s important that it’s under control before you undergo dental implant surgery. Also, if you currently have dental decay, this will also need to be taken care of before considering this procedure.
If you are a smoker, it’s highly recommended that you quit prior to getting your dental implants. There is a higher failure rate for dental implants among smokers. Dental implants are also not recommended for child or teenagers who are still growing. Once the jawbone has fully developed, then we can revisit the option of dental implants.

Do dental implants need special care?

The nice thing about dental implants is that you don’t need to treat them any differently than a regular tooth. They are strong, stable and permanent structures, so you can enjoy the benefits of a healthy smile when you get dental implants; however, this doesn’t mean you don’t have to take care of your implants. You want to stick to a proper oral regime; however, you should be doing this anyway! Brush twice a day and floss daily to ensure that your smile stays clean and hearty.
